Village Hall

Allerthorpe Village Hall was originally built as the village school in 1875 and is regretfully now looking every bit it's age!

The ALLERTHORPE VILLAGE HALL TRUST meets regularly immediately after the Parish Council Meetings.   The minutes of these meetings can be found on the latter pages of the Parish Council meeting minutes

December 2008                   Allerthorpe Village Hall  Update

Status of the Stage 2 Lottery Application

Unfortunately the news is not good.  Our application for the Community Buildings Stage 2 programme was considered by the Lottery Board and we were not successful.  Verbal feedback from the Lottery explained that it was felt that we did not have enough of our own funds available as a contingency.  If anyone is interested in reading the letter from the Lottery please let me know and I will provide a copy.

This news is a big disappointment to us all however we are determined to continue raising funds so that we can ensure that the Village Hall receives the attention it needs.  In the meantime, whilst we are pursuing other funding opportunities, the Village Hall Trustees are preparing a plan to undertake the vital repairs that the Hall needs immediately to meet legal standards and encourage increased usage.

We would like to take the opportunity to thank all the people in the village who continue to support our fund raising activities and we are delighted to say that our current fund stands at around £4,600.  Whilst this fund continues to grow, to be successful we still need to raise even more funds and we are determined to keep going.

We still have beautiful 2009 Allerthorpe Village Calendars available at £5.00 each and please look out for our 2009 Fund Raising Plans which we will be sending out shortly.

Best Regards
