Parish Council
"The Parish Council aims to work for the benefit of the community as a whole, to take the village forward and to improve community spirit while preserving the rural qualities of the village.
It's policy is one of openness and communication with the villagers to assist in meeting these objectives".
The Councillors Code of Conduct
All councils in England and Wales are required to adopt a Code of Conduct for their councillors. The code sets out certain standards of behaviour that councillors must comply with and breaches of the code can be punishable by sanctions ranging from censure of the councillor to disqualification from holding office for up to five years.
The Code of Conduct sets out the standards of behaviour expected of councillors. It is based on the 10 general principles of public life:
- Selflessness
- Honesty and integrity
- Objectivity
- Accountability
- Openness
- Personal judgement
- Respect for others
- Duty to uphold the law
- Stewardship
- Leadership
All councils are required to adopt a code so its provisions apply to all town and parish councillors, all councillors on East Riding of Yorkshire Council, and all councillors on the police and fire authorities.
The code applies to all elected and co-opted councillors and all councillors are required to sign up to it as part of their declarations of office.<> /> />>
